Creating an account

Registration, signing in, and what to do when you cannot.

Registering

You can register with an email address and a password, or sign in with Google. Either way you need to be 18 or over. New accounts start with the trial period shown on the registration screen; no payment method is asked for.

If you register with an email address, we send you a confirmation link. Your account exists from that moment, but you cannot sign in until you have opened the link. If you try, we send a fresh one, the earlier link stops working at that point.

Signing in with Google

A Google account signs in with one click and has no password of its own. Because there is no password to verify, Annotune's own two-factor authentication is not offered for these accounts; Google's second factor protects them instead. If your Google profile photo changes or is removed, Annotune follows: it falls back to your initials rather than showing a broken image.

If an email address is already registered with a password, signing in with Google using that same address is refused rather than silently merged. Sign in with your password instead.

If you cannot sign in

  • Forgotten password: use the Forgot password link on the sign-in screen. The reset link is valid for one hour and signs out every other device once used.
  • Too many attempts: after five failed attempts an account is locked for fifteen minutes. Resetting the password clears the lock immediately.
  • Lost your authenticator: see the two-factor page: your password is enough to turn the second factor off.

Deleting your account

Settings has a Delete account section. Deleting cancels your subscription first, then removes your scores, your share links and your sign-in records. It cannot be undone. Payment and tax records are kept where the law requires it, the privacy policy sets out exactly what.
